Victor
Mark Victor - The sole proprietor of Planet Cycles, has been in
the bicycle retail industry since he first opened Victor Cycle Sports
at Coorparoo in 1991. Mark started racing on the track at the tender
age of nine. He won many state titles, which included partnering
with a young Scott McGrory in his first Madison event for the 1987
NSW championship. After winning the Australian Points Race Championship
in 1987, Mark went to Europe to race and train, competing in the
world championships. Hanging up his bike at the age of 25, he thought
he would try his hand at business
the rest is history! Mark
has coached many cyclists to a national and international level
as well as racing there himself, so he knows what it takes to be
the best you can be. |

Patman
Bronwyn Patman -Co-owner, web mistress and salesperson, I love to
chat to girls who are just getting into cycling - it is an exciting
change for most and I still remember it well! I started racing a
bike at the age of 28 (three years older than Mark was when he retired!)
and raced nationally on the road for a few years until Mark and
I decided to add a few more kids to our bunch (total 7 and holding).
I have loved riding since I started and hope to keep doing it for
a long time yet. |
Favorite
ride - Eudlo to Montville.
Favourite thing do - the
laundry for 9 people (yeah, right!)
Pet hate - Road rage against cyclists and messy bunches. |

| Marty
Ross
Marty has been in the
bike industry almost as long as Mark, who lured him away from his
parent's bag-making business to Victor Cycles to be Mark's first
employee all those years ago. It's all in the family, as Marty is
married to Mark's sister, Katrina. Don't let the hairy legs deceive
you, Marty has raced extensively on both track and road all around
Australia, New Zealand and in Europe and his extreme mountainbiking
antics (and crashes) are much regaled.
He is a devoted Dad to
daughters Mary (pictured) and Grace. Marty has a reputation for
personal service, as his many customers will tell you. He will always
go into bat for the customer and will not be happy unless you are!
One of our store managers, Marty will be in the shop most of the
time, on the showroom floor (he's the one with the eyes!), so come
in and meet a great guy! (Oh, and he knows everything about
bikes!)
We recommend that you
make an appointment if you want Marty to fit you up to your bike
as he is usually in high demand and you may have to wait a while
to see him if he doesn't know you are coming. |

| Simon
Small
Another
of our friendly sales staff, Simon was always a Kiwi sailor. Previously
U/19 World Champion in Laser Class, Simon coached the British women
to their Olympic Gold Medal in Sydney, 2000. In 2002, he hung up
his rudder and decided to buy a bike. Like many sports, sailors
use cycling for cross-training. Simon has successfully transferred
his training and racing skills to his new sport and races A grade
on the road. He has even featured on national TV - albeit with a
bike throw but what the hey!
Simon
is an absolute gem on the showroom floor with heaps of friendly
advice. He is an expert at fit up and enjoys finding the perfect
bike for the customer. |

bikes so much he wanted to be surrounded by them all day! He has
slotted right into the workings of Planet and is always smiling
and happy to meet new people. He will go out of his way to help
you find the perfect bike.
He started racing on the track, moved to criteriums and has now
seriously moved into triathlons, his eyes are on the 2010 worlds
so look out!

Kearney
Spencer
sailed to Australia from Brixton in South London in about 1996 and
began working in the bike industry not long after. He specializes
in top-end road and mountainbikes and is our resident suspension
specialist.
Although
Spencer enjoys riding both road and MTB, his passion is for mountainbike
enduro events like the 12hr at Kooralbyn yeah, that's right, 7pm
until 7am. These events are for both individuals and teams and test
more than just your riding ability!
In the shop you will find
Spencer working away at his spotless bench. Whatever you do - DON'T
TOUCH HIS TOOLS - well, if you do, make sure you put them back in
the right place! |

The baby
of the workshop, Dustin has been in the industry since he left school
in late 2000. He is a local lad, growing up in Morningside. An outdoors
enthusiast and photographer of some note, Dustin is always smiling
and loves a joke..
He likes
to ride MTB and started racing in 2006. Dustin is now enjoying a
whole new world of riding after (finally) purchasing a road bike.

Also
hailing from the UK, Martin worked at Woods Cycles in a sleepy little
place called Cleethorpes for no less than 23 years. He decided to
have a change of lifestyle and move to sunny Queensland in 2007
and hasn't looked back - he loves the warm weather and friendly
people!
Martin
will usually be found in the workshop where he is the fastest wheel
builder anyone has ever seen. He has always loved bikes and started
racing road as a 15 year old (they love their time trials over
there) but has only ever ridden a MTB for fun. |
