CYCLING TRAINING
A 6 month training program - Unfit to Elite
These Programs are generalised and are based on the majority of
persons wishing to improve fitness, training techniques and racing
capabilities. They are not exact but are purely guides as to the
training you could be doing to improve your Cycling. Every effort
has been made to cater for all, however it is impossible to allow
for different work or social habits and restrictions on time people
may have.
Please read them carefully and if you do not
understand any particular part, please contact me, the PLANET
COACH by email for an further explanation.
I would regard any one on one, organised club
training session, or any competitive racing as being more important
than any individual training session enclosed in these programs,
and your priority to training should have the distinct goal of racing
better to improve your fitness riding and/or your grade and should
be prioritised as follows (with 1 the highest to 10 the lowest priority):
1 Open or inter-club racing
2 Club Racing (e.g. Murarrie Saturday morning criterium)
3 one on one training with personal coach
4 Club training
5 Rest and Recovery - Not Night Clubs and Booze
6 Longer/Harder rides being endurance based, preferably with better
cyclists than yourself.
7 The Enclosed training program
8 Rest and Recovery - not drugs and pubs
9 Your Dog
10 A training program from someone who is not qualified or who has
never competed at a high enough level to teach you what is right
or what is wrong, or from someone who is yet to train someone else
who has actually improved or “All of the above”
Of course if you are not that serious about training and racing
better, your dog may be a little higher on the list.
