CYCLING CLUB INCORPORATED |
| Balmoral cycling club was started
in 1946. It was based at the Hawthorne Park track and in 1996 moved
to the Murarrie Reserve, Wynnum Rd, (opposite the Cannon Hill shopping
centre) where they run the very popular club criterium every Saturday
morning. |
| Balmoral has a proud tradition of
looking after new members and those who are just getting the feel
of riding in a large bunch- "no one is left behind on a Balmoral
ride" . If a flat or mechanical should occur, help is at hand.

Saturday morning racing at Murarrie
on the Criterium circuit
Open to all club members and licensed members of other clubs
Sign-on - 6.40am, Racing starts 7am
Categories 1,2&3. Category 4 for juniors and novices
30 to 60 minutes duration depending on Category
Prize money for primes Cat 1 and major placegetters in all races. |

| Sunday morning club rides |
Social ride about 80km
Meet at the Murarrie circuit 630am (7am in winter)
Usually the course is Lytton Rd to the Port of Brisbane, Wynnum waterfront,
Thorneside and Birkdale to Wellington Point coffee at Tanja's approx
8am,
Back to Murarrie by about 930am
Novice ride about 40 - 50 km
Takes the short cut to Wynnum via Wynnum Rd and then meets the other
bunch for coffee and the trip home at a more subdued pace. This ride
caters for novice riders accompanied by experienced club riders and
is the ideal way to gain experience and confidence before venturing
onto the bigger ride and the exhilaration of gliding along in a big
peleton. |

Depart every Tuesday and Thursday
from Red Rooster, corner Wynnum and
Creek Rds at 5.30am and return at about 7.45am |

| Thursday morning sprint
sessions, Chandler Velodrome 6am, track bikes only (pay $4 at the

| Other |
Other Balmoral specialties
include a dedicated Junior Development programme, accredited club
coaches, club championships, Metropolitan Championships, Abruzzo Cup
and information on club and QCA events via the regular club newsletter.
There is an annual 160km "century" ride in September and
other special rides on select public holidays and other training under
the auspices of coaches. |
